Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Digital Content Specialist oversees CECS’s website, curates compelling social media posts, develops engaging electronic communications, and produces a bi-monthly e-newsletter. This role also involves managing digital assets and fostering community engagement through tours and events, supporting strategic initiatives. The specialist closely collaborates with the dean, department chairs, faculty, and student organization officers to ensure accurate and impactful digital content creation and distribution. They adhere strictly to digital accessibility standards, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and best web practices to guarantee optimal user experiences.
  • Oversees day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of college and department websites, ensuring adherence to accessibility and SEO guidelines.
  • Oversees creation and distribution of digital content online, including social media and electronic communications targeted toward external stakeholders.
  • Develops and manages content for an external bi-monthly newsletter, collaborating with University Advancement for timely and accurate distribution.
  • Develops and manages community engagement activities, including organizing tours and lab visits from external student communities such as high schools and community colleges.
  • Assists College administrators with tasks related to the execution of the college strategic plan, providing support to key initiatives and objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college in English, Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a job-related field.
  • Equivalent to three (3) years of full-time professional or technical experience in public affairs, media relations, marketing and/or market research.
 
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Proficiency in website maintenance and content management systems (CMS), with a comprehensive understanding of digital accessibility standards and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including college leadership, faculty, and departmental staff, to strategically develop and execute engaging, user-friendly web content.
  • Expertise in social media content creation, editing, and distribution, including the ability to craft engaging and impactful messages tailored specifically for external stakeholders and diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with administrators, department chairs, faculty, and student organizations in sourcing and refining content, along with proficiency in obtaining and integrating appropriate graphical elements for digital communications.
 
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Classification: Public Affairs/Communication Specialist / 0800 / 2
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4146 - $5717 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4146 - $7500 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.  
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. 
  • The position is currently hybrid (1 day in office, 4 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
