Job Summary | We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, and creative Marketing Manager who contributes and coordinates the development of marketing and communications for the University of Utah Housing & Dining Programs (HDP) department. This managerial role performs a variety of marketing, assessment, and project management tasks while using good judgment and strong interpersonal skills to plan and execute goal-based strategies and tactics. Ensures proper branding of products, supervises professional and student staff, and is focused on utilizing traditional and digital publishing technologies to produce diverse communication materials.
This position will be part of the HDP marketing and communications unit, reporting directly to the Associate Director of Communications and Assessment. The team is comprised of two specialists and seven student interns. This is a hybrid role that requires in-person meetings and maintaining a regular physical presence at the department. The ideal candidate is a self-directed seasoned professional who can work comfortably in a fast-paced environment and be accountable for results.

Responsibilities | Develop print and digital marketing communications plans based on HDP application cycles, assessment projects, and marketing priorities. Design and execute assessment projects (surveys) including data analysis and reporting, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and creating visual reports/narratives. Supervise and collaborate with communication specialists and student leader staff members on various projects: website edits, housing tours, email marketing campaigns, and events. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., departments under Auxiliary Services, Office of Resident Life, Admissions, Orientation, Public Safety, and Dining Services) to reach and engage diverse audiences, including prospective and current students. Under the guidance of the associate director, develop content strategy for several projects, including the HDP annual Resident Satisfaction Survey (RSS), annual report, and paid and organic marketing campaigns. Monitor the effectiveness of marketing/communication tactics and adjust communication plans as necessary. Support the marketing unit by contributing to cross-functional efforts, including internal and external events, move-in, presentations for new students, and in-state and out-of-state trips during the recruitment season. Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
