Job Description Summary:  | At GW HealthDesk, we promote the use of digital health tools to mitigate the effects of social determinants of health. Our mission is to introduce digital health tools in hard-to-reach communities to solve difficult problems associated with chronic disease.

The tools we support help people manage their chronic illness and promote a healthier life. The challenge we face is to overcome social and economic barriers that limit the utilization of revolutionary healthcare tools. HealthDesk overcomes these barriers through academic-community partnerships and a culture of communication and trust with participants to improve digital health literacy.

GW HealthDesk began as a partnership with the Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church (PABC) to host mobile health education desk that held pop-up events throughout the D.C. area, specifically Wards 5, 7 and 8 of Washington D.C. With help from our community and GWU volunteers, HealthDesk has registered over 500 residents and assisted them in optimizing their phones and navigating digital health tools for chronic disease management.

HD has an actively funded grant to provide digital health coaching services with focus on residents of Wards 7 and 8 in Washington, DC.

GW HealthDesk is looking for a part-time Digital Health Literacy Coach. The coach will participate in digital health coaching, training, mentoring, supervising, organizing event tasks, participate in weekly meetings with HD team, student coaches and sponsors,
and delivering in-person or telehealth coaching to community members participants.

The Coach will also manage and create coaching content, and training content Additionally, the position will perform assist with administrative tasks such responding to email inquiries and assisting with other grant and student applications.

The role comes with data management responsibilities, which includes Microsoft Office applications, Google Applications, Redcap data entry into EDC interfaces, mobile data capture through iPad, and report generation.

Responsibilities
Coordinate and participate in virtual and mobile events which include recruiting volunteers, ordering supplies, and communicating with partner organizations Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling team meetings and responding to email inquiries. Coordinate transportation for HealthDesk supplies, in case of in-person pop-up events. Write/Edit content for HealthDesk website Deliver digital health coaching, which may include helping HealthDesk visitors or members navigate phone optimization settings, application downloads, and patient portal access. Coordinating funded project activities, data entry, and reports Assist team with filming, editing, developing training content Complete assigned projects related to program needs

Minimum Qualifications:  | Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/ GED, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
