Job Description 
The Digital Specialist is a key contributor on the Syracuse University Marketing Division’s Digital Team, serving as a production assistant to the digital strategy team. This position will collaborate with teams throughout the division to package and post content on Syracuse University’s flagship web and social media properties to promote the University. The Digital Specialist will stage and publish stories and web pages on Syracuse.edu, stage and publish posts on Syracuse University social channels, help select and crop images, edit and embed video and collaborate with digital strategists, social strategists, marketing strategists, and content and creative channel teams to publish high-quality, engaging, brand-aligned content that meets audience needs and business objectives.

The Digital Specialist will field and respond to requests for website updates from campus partners and make recommendations for enhancements to digital properties. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, responsive, adept at working on projects from concept to completion. The Digital Specialist should have a working understanding of SEO and digital analytics, using both to inform and optimize content creation. Their work will follow established university brand standards and governance (including digital and social).

Education and Experience  | Two (2) plus years’ experience in digital production preferred. Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and experience. Previous experience in higher education preferred.

Skills and Knowledge  | Experience w/ Adobe Creative Suite & CMS (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, SharePoint, Wagtail, etc.) required. Experience building templated web pages, writing/optimizing headlines/sub-heads for web stories, writing short-format text, such as web copy and blogs preferred. Experience packaging content for social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.) required. Experience w/ SEO, analytics, UI/UX preferred. Experience working collaboratively with diverse groups. Experience w/digital asset management systems & MS Office. Excellent verbal & written communication skills, strong organizational skills, detail-oriented and ability to multi-task. Able to work on a cross-functional team on multiple projects at once. Adaptable problem-solver & team player, works well in fast-paced environment & able to work independently. Strong analytical, presentation & time management skills. Deadline oriented, accurate & efficient Experience working w/ editorial, digital & creative style guidelines (Syracuse University). Exercise independent judgment and discretion within established policies. Ability to enforce guidelines. Able to handle high volume of work w/in short period of time and operate in a demanding work environment. Close visual acuity to perform tasks related to the production of content.

Responsibilities  | Collaborates with marketing channel teams to package high-quality, engaging content for digital platforms in channel-appropriate and audience-centric manner. Utilizes understanding of user experience, SEO and digital analytics to inform content packaging. Follows established university brand standards and governance (digital and social). Collaborates and coordinates with creative and content teams, as well as external campus partners during all points of the process. Ensures QA best practices are executed on all projects. Collaborates with campus partners to make updates to flagship content, ensuring accuracy, brand and editorial alignment and outstanding user experience. Researches and shares digital industry best practices and trends. Assists digital strategy team pull and assess analytics around digital platforms in order to inform and adjust strategies.
