| Primary Purpose of Position | The Director of Employee Relations & EEO/AA Officer reports directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for HR Operations and oversees the administration of employee relations, equal employment opportunity, and affirmative action programs at NCA&T State University. This role is responsible for managing all facets of employee relations for faculty and staff (EHRA and SHRA), developing and implementing campus-wide programs and training related to employee relations, mediation, compliance, grievances, disciplinary actions, performance management, conflict of interest, and other related services. The Director will analyze and interpret policies, provide educational initiatives focused on the areas of oversight, support organizational cultural change, and enhance the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce. Additionally, the Director will provide guidance on the application of university, state, and federal laws and regulations within both employment and academic contexts. |

| Minimum Requirements |
|
| Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education | Preference for experience in higher education and local/federal/state government entity and/or prior experience working in a university or academic setting with knowledge of faculty and staff employment structures. Formal training in workplace investigations, mediation, or conflict resolution, including experience in managing high-profile or sensitive cases. Experience in drafting, revising, and implementing HR policies and procedures that align with best practices and legal standards. Strong track record of working collaboratively with legal counsel, risk management, faculty leadership, and administrative departments. Employment law certification, Juris Doctor (JD) degree, or relevant legal education and experience in employment law or related field. Employment mediator certification, EEODF Instructor Certification, Professional HR certifications such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or a related EEO/AA certification (e.g., AAAED Certified Affirmative Action Professional). |
