About the Role
As a District Sales Manager, you’ll provide inspirational leadership and strategic direction to a team of field Sales Representatives across a territory that includes Detroit, Toledo, Columbus, Cincinnati, and the state of Kentucky. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, exceeding profitability goals, and delivering cutting-edge educational solutions that include technology, media, and print across disciplines such as Science, Engineering, Math (SEM); Business and Economics (B&E); and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Languages (HSSL).

This position requires up to 50% travel within the territory to meet with team members and university representatives, as well as 10% overnight and out-of-state travel. Candidates must permanently reside within the territory to be considered for the role.

What You’ll Do:
  • Drive Sales Strategy: Execute customer-centric sales strategies to exceed revenue goals within your geographic territory.
  • Lead and Inspire: Foster a performance-driven culture through coaching, training, and development of your team, focusing on solution selling and digital expertise.
  • Attract and Retain Talent: Build a high-performing team by recruiting top talent and creating an environment that supports growth and success.
  • Build Relationships: Actively engage with internal and external customers to understand their needs, deliver innovative solutions, and cultivate lasting partnerships.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with Marketing, Editorial, and Learning Solutions teams to execute strategies, provide market feedback, and contribute to product and sales training initiatives.

What We Are Looking For: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in a sales leadership role, with a proven ability to build, manage, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Track Record of Success: Demonstrated history of exceeding sales goals and driving revenue growth with an expertise in solution selling, with a strong understanding of digital tools and technologies.
  • Team Development Skills: Strong expertise in training, coaching, and developing sales representatives to maximize their potential.
  • Market Insight: Proven ability to leverage market research and industry knowledge to drive product development and sales strategies. 
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Passionate about understanding customer needs and delivering impactful solutions.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work cross-functionally and contribute to broader organizational initiatives.
  • Higher Education Industry Experience: Experience selling into the higher education market is strongly preferred.
  • Travel Requirements: Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel extensively within the defined territory (up to 50% travel).

The pay range for this position is between $108,000 - $145,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
