Elementary SPED Tutor - Reading, Writing & Math Full Description

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Hesperia, CA! If you're committed to making a difference in the lives of students with special needs and helping them achieve academic success, we want to hear from you!

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Hesperia, CA

Details:

  • In-Person Tutoring in Hesperia, CA
  • Schedule: 15 hours, 2 sessions a week for 1.5 hours
  • Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with students with Autism and ADHD
  • Extremely patient, humorous, and able to maintain a calm, structured approach
  • Skilled in supporting:
    • Math concepts and math word problems
    • ELA skills including writing, sentence structure, reading fluency, and comprehension
    • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and self-regulation strategies
    • Executive functioning, prioritizing homework completion before enrichment
  • Able to implement clear, black-and-white thinking strategies
  • Comfortable incorporating movement breaks, visual timers, and sensory regulation tools
  • Engaging personality with the ability to build rapport and maintain motivation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct academic support in math, reading, and writing aligned with grade-level expectations
  • Teach SEL strategies that help with emotional regulation and frustration tolerance
  • Use structured routines, clear expectations, and visual supports
  • Integrate movement breaks and sensory regulation strategies as needed
  • Support executive functioning skills, ensuring homework is completed first
  • Use TME curriculum for additional practice once homework is finished
  • Incorporate the student’s interests (karate, Fortnite, anime, Roblox) to enhance engagement
  • Maintain communication with the family regarding progress and strategies
