Job Description  | The Executive Director of Operations for Syracuse University Global works with the Senior Vice President and leadership team to ensure operational efficiency, sustainability, and scalability across all SU Global functions. This role requires a strategic, collaborative, service-oriented leader with strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. The individual must maintain functional knowledge of Syracuse University’s online ecosystem and excel at building relationships with SU Global departments and key university stakeholders. Collaborating across the unit and with university and external stakeholders, the Executive Director ensures efficient operations aligned with the mission and strategic priorities. As a member of SU Global’s executive leadership team, the Executive Director contributes to strategic direction and supports other leaders in their priorities. The Executive Director serves as the primary interface with University business and academic offices for SU Global operations, supervises operational team members, and stays apprised of financial, operational, and relevant trends to enhance effectiveness and achieve strategic goals. This position will require availability beyond standard working hours.

Education and Experience  | Master’s degree in higher education or related field required. Ten (10) plus years of progressive leadership experience including supervising staff and managing operational processes and projects required.

Skills and Knowledge  | Substantive knowledge of higher education ecosystem and best practices in online programming required.
Responsibilities  | Oversee and manage daily team operations, developing and implementing policies to enhance efficiency and support SU Global’ s mission, goals, and strategic priorities. Communicate and coordinate with organizational leaders to understand needs and ensure timely delivery of support and services. Oversee administrative functions, including administrative support, supplies management, and all unit policies, procedures, and practices. Oversee the unit’s budget and administration personnel, project managers, and business data reporting and analytics. Ensure the provision of unit-wide planning, support, project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, and identifies and mitigates risks.’ Responsible for staff development efforts and the performance management processes across the unit. Maintain familiarization with general operations and functions within each SU Global department to champion unit goals and strategic priorities. Create cross functional integration within SU Global and with key university partners and collaborators. Drive innovation, change, data-driven decision-making, and growth mindset across the unit. Represent SU Global goals and services to university stakeholders. Demonstrate and lead with subject matter expertise in online programming, higher education, and the university ecosystem. Advise the Senior Vice President for SU Global on strategic priorities and operational needs and efficiencies of the unit. Serve as a resource for all staff within the unit and across the university as it relates to online scalability and success. Serve as SU Global’s primary strategic HR liaison and point of contact with the Sr. HR Business Partner and university HR leadership. Provide executive oversight of unit-wide personnel strategy, including organizational design, staffing plans, succession planning, and workforce development aligned with SU Global’ s strategic priorities. Partner with the Director of Administration & Budget, who administers day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment coordination, performance review processes, offer letters, policy compliance, and payroll administration.
