Springer Publishing Company is seeking a Financial/Business Analyst to support data-driven decision-making across the organization by connecting financial performance and operational metrics. This position plays a key role in benchmarking business performance, analyzing profitability trends, evaluating business models, and identifying early indicators that guide strategic planning.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, analytical professional who can extract data from multiple systems, synthesize insights into concise dashboards and reports, and communicate findings clearly to financial and non-financial stakeholders. Experience in publishing, media, or educational technology is highly valued, as Springer operates as a digital learning company delivering evidence-based content and innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain financial and operational dashboards that track key business metrics.
- Drive process and reporting enhancements that improve data interpretation, efficiency, and transparency
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting processes by integrating financial results and operational metrics.
- Evaluate the impact of various business model scenarios
- Build predictive and scenario models at various levels to assess potential outcomes and surface early indicators of success or risk.
- Actively participate in strategic and tactical planning sessions.
- Benchmark before and after launch to assess performance, profitability, and market impact.
- Analyze title-level and divisional P&Ls to assess trends in revenue, margins, and format mix across print and digital products.
- Partner with Product, Editorial, Marketing, and Sales teams to align financial data with business objectives and product performance.
- Integrate ERP, CRM, digital analytics, and sales data into actionable reports.
- Prepare and present monthly and quarterly performance reports for Finance leadership and the executive team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment between financial outcomes and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in financial and/or business analysis, ideally within publishing, media, or educational content industries.
- Proven ability to analyze financial performance at various levels and business metrics in a content-driven environment.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI); SQL or data-querying experience preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as Acumen or comparable financial platforms.
- Exceptional analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear business insights.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
