Opportunity at a Glance
 The Academic Support Advisor role is responsible for promoting student success through accurate and responsive advisement in the areas of academics, registration, persistence, and the student experience.  Advisors are responsible for building a supportive environment that assists students to achieve their education goals by providing excellent customer service while identifying student needs and mentoring students to resolve potential academic issues. Advisors will also work closely with other university support teams to ensure that student inquiries are addressed in a timely and effective manner. The Academic Support Advisor I role functions as a role model for our TEACH values and fosters a culture of Chamberlain CARE consistent with our mission, vision, and purpose.
 
 Responsibilities
  • Provide critical guidance to students regarding course registration and ensure comprehensive understanding of degree and practicum application requirements (as applicable per program).
  • Serve as a dedicated advocate for students' advising needs, directly contributing to their successful enrollment, sustained engagement, and ultimate completion of their educational goals.
  • Deliver authoritative advice on university policies, procedures, program requirements, and related academic matters, ensuring students are fully informed of their academic obligations and opportunities.
  • Conduct rigorous monitoring of student progress to proactively identify at-risk scenarios and implement, measure, and refine academic success strategies.
  • Utilize advanced systems and student data analytics to meticulously track and confirm accurate enrollment, persistence, and graduation information for assigned program/campus locations. Maintain comprehensive documentation of all interactions in institutional systems.
  • Employ strategic coaching techniques to assist students in overcoming barriers to persistence or graduation, making judicious referrals to appropriate resources when necessary.
  • Maintain an extensive and current understanding of all academic programs, policies, and procedures, including institutional policies and federal and state regulations. Ensure strict compliance with all applicable federal and state guidelines.
  • Actively promote and educate students on the effective use of self-service tools during advising interactions to foster independence and efficiency.
  • Engage students through diverse communication channels, including virtual/video advising, inbound student calls, and proactive outreach, to deliver timely and effective resolutions to student inquiries and concerns.
  • Critically analyze current methods and processes to identify opportunities for improvement, actively participating in the evolution of organizational practices.
  • Foster robust collaborations with other departments and functional areas to ensure the delivery of an optimal student experience.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of a designated Campus Security Authority with the utmost diligence and professionalism.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned with precision and commitment to excellence.
  • Adhere rigorously to all policies and standards, maintaining the highest level of professional conduct at all times.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • 1+ year of experience in customer service, academic advising, or higher education Preferred
  • Outstanding customer service skills with 1+ years of customer service, academic advising, or related experience required
  • Ability to work a variety of office hours including evenings and weekends
  • High level of interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize effectively
  • PC skills in Microsoft Office, internet applications, and database Experience with Student Information Systems a plus

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $18.7 and $24.04. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
