Job Summary
The John Martinson Honors College at Purdue University is actively recruiting and accepting applications for an Honors Advisor. Honors Advisors provide supplemental advising about the Honors College curriculum to current and prospective Honors College students. This is an opportunity to join an energetic, student-centered team.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Honors Advisor will:
- Manage a caseload of approximately 400 students
- Educate students about Honors College requirements and empower them to take responsibility for their academic and professional success
- Communicate with students regarding curricular and co-curricular opportunities, including study abroad, scholarships, leadership development, etc.
- Build and maintain contacts with other College/Department advising units
- Respond to emails and phone calls from students and their family members, faculty, and university staff. Assess when a situation calls for more follow-up

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- Master's degree
- One year of relevant work experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated commitment to student success, diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Knowledge of key issues related to recruiting and advising highly motivated undergraduates
- Ability to work independently with guidance from a supervisor in a team-oriented environment
- Must be able to collaborate with faculty, staff students and parents
- Basic skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Nice to Have:
- Experience advising undergraduates
- Experience working with related student-centered areas (leadership, study abroad, research, teaching, etc.)
- Knowledge of academic advising
- Experience working in an honors program or college
- Knowledge of programs and majors at Purdue University

- FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime)
