Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Human Resources Specialist to take the lead as our Compliance and Time & Leave Administrator.
In this critical role, you’ll be the go-to expert for managing time and leave processes, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of HR records. You’ll play a vital part in supporting the day-to-day operations of our HR team while helping employees navigate leave programs and timekeeping requirements with confidence and clarity.

KSA's/Required Qualifications | Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Demonstrated ability to manage and provide guidance on employee benefits and non-standard leave programs, including FMLA, VSDP, and ADA accommodation. Strong understanding of federal, state, and DHRM policies to ensure organizational compliance with applicable regulations Experience maintaining and auditing HRIS records with attention to data integrity and compliance reporting Coordinate training and employee development opportunities. Education/Training in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. 2–4 years HR experience in a Specialist or Generalist capacity. Demonstrated working knowledge of human resources practices within higher education settings, including policy interpretation, employee relations, recruitment strategies, and compliance with institutional guidelines.
Additional Considerations | Progressive knowledge of local, state or federal employment policies, or considerable knowledge of Virginia DHRM policies and HR systems. Employee Relations/EEO/Title IX training, Public Sector HR training. SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR, SPHR. Compensation Professional, (CCP), Benefits Specialist (CBP) or Payroll Specialist (CPS) training.
