NC State University is hiring Juntos Team Captain/Counselors for the Juntos Summer Academy. This role involves mentoring and leading groups of rising 9th to 12th grade students through a week-long, overnight summer program that provides a college experience and educational opportunities. Team Captains will serve as positive role models, facilitate student engagement in activities, ensure safety and adherence to policies, and communicate effectively with program staff.

Highlights

Lead and mentor groups of 10-15 high school students during a week-long overnight summer academy from June 21 to June 27, 2026
Provide guidance, encourage positive attitudes, and support student participation in workshops and projects
Stay overnight in university dormitories with housing and meals included
Participate in early morning and late-night room checks to ensure student safety
Communicate effectively with program directors, peers, youth, and volunteers, and report inappropriate behavior immediately
Must be at least 19 years old and have completed at least one year of higher education
Experience in group leadership and passion for youth development required; experience with middle and high school youth preferred
Must pass a background check and register as a 4-H Online volunteer
Driver’s license and clean driving record required only if interested in optional driving duties
Compensation includes a $1000 stipend plus housing and meals for the duration of the program
