Job Description
The ICTAS Marketing and Communications Manager leads a comprehensive communication and marketing program that elevates the university brand and priorities while emphasizing the institute by raising awareness of its capabilities and strengths to internal university stakeholders and with external local, regional, and national audiences.
Reporting to the ICTAS Director for Finance and Administration and the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications in the Office of Research and Innovation, this position will manage marketing and communications for the institute. The manager will serve as the institute’s primary writer and editor and lead strategies for print and digital content including storytelling, web, social, and executive talking points and presentations. The manager will supervise a marketing and communications specialist in the development of all marketing materials, social media posts, web content, event marketing collateral and other products as needed to ensure content is consistent with the university brand and priorities. The manager will demonstrate a creative vision for photography and videography and coordinate requests for production with central communications. The manager collaborates with faculty, campus communicators, ICTAS leadership, the Office of Research and Innovation, and central Marketing and Communications.
The manager will develop communication plans for high level, complex projects that include coordination with internal stakeholders such as university leadership, the central media relations team, campus communicators, and external partners.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
- Superior writing and editing skills demonstrated versatility and adaptability across styles and platforms.
- Demonstrated experience writing in AP style
- Experience in a fast-paced work environment with various groups of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and delegate.
- Experience with industry or government partners.
- Strong organizational/interpersonal skills, creativity, flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in a team setting.
- Familiarity with digital content strategy and management, including content management systems and other web platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to complete long-term projects and manage multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of mixed media and creative visuals, i.e., photo and video
- Demonstrated experience handling sensitive information.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Drive, Content Management systems, and Microsoft Teams or related tools
- Experience with media relations
- Strong understanding of effective graphic design and branding principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree with related experience in industry, government, or higher education.
- Demonstrated experience as a supervisor.
- Experience translating and framing complex scientific concepts for a lay audience.
