POSITION SPECIFICS
Penn State Lehigh Valley seeks a Marketing and Communications Specialist to support the campus's multichannel marketing and communications strategy through digital storytelling, social media engagement, and multimedia content production. This position plays a key role in strengthening institutional visibility, promoting academic and workforce-aligned programs, and supporting signature initiatives such as the campus LaunchBox and continuing education offerings. The successful candidate will collaborate with campus partners to translate institutional priorities into engaging digital content across social, web, and marketing platforms. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic communications team serving a rapidly growing region marked by significant economic investment and population growth.

Digital Storytelling & Content Production 
  • Produce digital and multimedia content, including photography, short‑form video, graphics, and written materials.
  • Plan, capture, edit, and format content for use across social media, web, email, and marketing platforms.
  • Ensure all content aligns with University branding, style guidelines, and accessibility standards.
Social Media Management & Engagement 
  • Publish and manage content across campus social media channels.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and platform trends to optimize content strategy.
  • Support implementation of a campus KOL (key opinion leader)/influencer strategy featuring students, faculty, alumni, and community partners.
Web & Digital Content Support 
  • Update and maintain website content using Drupal or similar content management systems.
  • Apply SEO, metadata, and accessibility best practices in coordination with the communications team.
  • Integrate multimedia assets to enhance digital user experience and consistency.
Signature Programs & Continuing Education Marketing 
  • Develop and distribute digital content promoting LaunchBox, facility rentals, and continuing education programs.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to market workforce‑aligned offerings that respond to regional and community needs.
  • Support initiatives aimed at increasing awareness, participation, and revenue generation.
Events & Digital Coverage 
  • Provide communications support for campus events, including academic ceremonies, speakers, student programming, and commencement.
  • Capture digital content during events to highlight campus activity and institutional impact.
Strategic Communications Team Support 
  • Assist with content development, speech drafting, media preparation materials, and issues‑response documentation.
  • Contribute to integrated marketing initiatives and maintain strong communication with campus stakeholders.
  • Support project execution and ensure alignment with communications priorities.
