Job Summary  | Complete assigned tasks with attention to detail while working under the direction of senior compliance staff. Support multiple projects by maintaining organized documentation, tracking deadlines, and following established procedures. Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and units to support compliance-related reviews and processes. Handle sensitive or confidential information with professionalism and discretion, following university policies and applicable regulations.
A successful candidate will be required to use Microsoft Office applications along with training for other software (REDCap, Box, Visual Compliance, custom internal applications).
Minimum Education and Experience  | Bachelor’s degree required and one to three years of experience in research compliance.
Preferred Education and Experience  | Experience administering export control compliance, international trade compliance, or relevant federal national security policies and regulations in industry or in an academic research environment is preferred.

The Research Security and Ethics department is seeking a compliance professional with analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and strong interpersonal skills. The selected candidate will complete export compliance and research compliance training. Professional development is required and available within this role.
Other Qualifications  | To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities  | Essential Duties: Assist with ensuring institutional compliance with federal export control regulations and policies, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and National Security Presidential Memorandum 33, under the guidance of senior compliance staff. Conduct preliminary reviews to help determine export control classifications and potential licensing requirements for technology, software, equipment, and related items. Support the compliance review process for university activities such as research proposals and awards, travel authorizations, purchase orders, visitor requests, shipping, and vendor/sponsor requests. Help monitor implementation of technology control plans and export risk mitigation plans, escalating concerns to senior staff as needed. Assist with developing and updating compliance guidance materials and informational resources for institutional stakeholders. Participate in training and review updates shared by the research security team to stay informed about evolving federal regulations and internal policies. Other duties as assigned to help support the creation, implementation, and maintenance of new compliance procedures and programs related to export control.

Additional Information  | After the 6 month probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
