Senior Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications Full Description

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Advancement, the SAVP leads an integrated marketing and communications strategy that advances institutional priorities, strengthens stakeholder engagement, supports fundraising objectives, and elevates Virginia Tech visibility among key audiences.
Required Qualifications
  • A master degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business administration, higher education, public administration, or related field; or a bachelor degree with significant professional experience.
  • Extensive leadership experience in marketing, communications, public affairs, or brand strategy.
  • Demonstrated success developing integrated marketing and communications strategies.
  • Experience in brand development, audience engagement, reputation management, storytelling.
  • Expertise in digital communications, social media, content strategy, AI applications.
  • Experience advising senior executives and navigating high-profile communications challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting fundraising, advancement, or alumni engagement.
  • Experience within higher education or complex mission-driven organizations.
Full-Time, Exempt. 40 hours per week.
