Senior Database Administrator Full Description

Overview: 
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator to manage and optimize our critical database systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database administration, with a strong focus on MS SQL Server and data warehousing. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our databases.

Responsibilities: 
  • Administer and maintain database systems, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Lead database design and implementation projects, from conceptualization to deployment.
  • Conduct capacity planning and manage the installation and configuration of new databases.
  • Oversee data migration, backup, and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Perform continuous performance monitoring and troubleshooting to proactively resolve issues.
  • Implement and manage database security protocols.
  • Collaborate with development and business teams to support their data needs.

 Qualifications: 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or a similar computer-related discipline.
  • Experience: Significant experience as a database administrator, including substantial experience working with data warehouses.
  • Technical Skills: Intensive and progressive experience with MS SQL Server. This includes expertise in:
  • Database design and implementation.
  • Capacity planning, installation, and configuration.
  • Data migration, backup, and data recovery.
  • Performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Security administration.
  • Certifications: Possession of a Certified Database Administrator certificate or similar certification is a plus.

The final offered salary will be influenced by a host of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
