Job Description

Strong recruiting requires discipline, persistence, and sharp judgment. The best candidates are often not actively applying, so they must be proactively identified, engaged, and assessed.

As a Specialist, Talent Recruitment – Home Office Outreach, you will own sourcing and early-stage selection for central office and regional roles. You will build high-quality pipelines, engage passive candidates, and guide them through the initial stages of our hiring process. Your work will directly shape the teams that support our schools, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Pipeline Building (60%)

  • Identify and engage high-quality, passive candidates for central office and regional roles (Finance, IT, Marketing, HR, etc.)
  • Build and maintain strong talent pipelines using tools such as LinkedIn Recruiter and professional networks
  • Map talent markets to understand where strong candidates are working and how to engage them effectively
  • Track outreach and pipeline activity to ensure consistent progress across roles

Candidate Engagement & Screening (30%)

  • Conduct phone screens to assess candidate alignment, experience, and readiness for next steps
  • Clearly evaluate candidates against role requirements and make recommendations on who should advance
  • Deliver a high-quality, responsive candidate experience throughout early stages of the process

Hiring Manager Partnership (10%)

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand role requirements and calibrate on candidate profiles
  • Share updates on pipeline health and adjust sourcing strategies as needed
  • Ensure smooth handoff of candidates into later-stage interviews
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of full-cycle recruiting or talent acquisition experience
  • Experience owning hiring pipelines, including sourcing, screening, and advancing candidates
  • Ability to manage multiple roles and priorities at once with strong organization and follow-through
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience recruiting for K–12 schools, charter networks, or education organizations
  • Experience recruiting for non-profit organizations
  • Experience hiring for central office or corporate functions (e.g., Finance, HR, IT, Marketing)

Additional Context on Fit

  • This role is best suited for candidates who have direct experience in recruiting or talent acquisition and are comfortable owning sourcing and early-stage candidate selection
  • Candidates whose experience is primarily in customer service, sales, or general operations without direct hiring responsibility are unlikely to be a strong fit
  • This is not an entry-level recruiting role and is not designed for candidates looking to transition into recruiting for the first time

Compensation

The full compensation range for this role is $82,500-$97,000. Typically, new hires who fully meet all qualifications listed in the job description will start at $87,300. Starting compensation below this reflects candidates with less experience or qualifications. Offers near the top end of the range are reserved for candidates who significantly exceed the qualifications, bringing extensive experience and specialized expertise beyond what is listed.

Compensation determinations consider relevant professional experience and tenure with Uncommon Schools. 

Work Environment

Manhattan-based role with in-office work three days per week.
