About You
You are a highly analytical individual with strong attention to detail and a passion for finance and data. You are highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy. You possess strong communication skills, as they will often be required to collaborate with Team Members across the entire organization and worldwide. You are proactive, with a strong work ethic and sound decision-making skills. You are mindful of our culture and mission. You are humble with a sense of humor and don’t take yourself too seriously. You have been working in or have dreamed of working in the gaming industry and are ready to turn your talents toward chess!
What you'll do
- Own and maintain core financial models, including recurring revenue, expense, and cash flow forecasts.
- Identify and implement improvements to expense budgeting and forecasting processes across departments and subsidiaries, with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and scale.
- Analyze financial and operating performance through variance and trend analysis, surfacing key insights and drivers.
- Track, interpret, and communicate KPIs to help stakeholders understand business performance and guide decisions.
- Support strategic initiatives with scenario modeling, business case development, and ad-hoc analysis.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality reports and presentations for executive leadership, board meetings, and external partners.
- Take on other high-impact projects as needed in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Preferred Skills
- Degree in Business or Finance (or related field), with a strong understanding of accrual-based accounting.
- 6+ years in FP&A or strategic finance at a consumer subscription technology company, ideally with prior experience in investment banking or private equity.
- Proven track record partnering cross-functionally to build and manage department-level budgets.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, with strong presentation ability in PowerPoint or Google Slides.
- Analytical and detail-oriented, while able to adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
- Highly organized with a strong sense of ownership, follow-through, and accountability.
- Clear and confident communicator with experience working in remote, async-first teams.
- Passionate about chess, or excited to engage deeply with a mission-driven product.
- Naturally curious and growth-minded, a lifelong learner.
About the Opportunity
- This is a full-time position
- We are 100% remote (always have been, always will be!)
- While we are a global, remote company, due to the role requirements, this position is best suited to someone in the US or Canada.
