Description of Work  | The Strength Training and Conditioning Coordinator plays a vital role of the Campus Recreation resistance training and cardiovascular fitness areas within all Campus Recreation facilities.

The Strength Training and Conditioning Coordinator will:
Recruit, hire, train and develop, schedule, lead, and evaluate Strength Training and Conditioning staff. Recruit, hire, train and develop, schedule, lead, and evaluate Personal Training staff. Conduct staff meetings, training seminars and staff development sessions. Teach academic credit courses each semester as assigned, such as FITN 222: Intro to Personal Training. Develop class and individual programs for people of all abilities. Update staff manuals, policies and procedures for strength and fitness training areas for all Campus Recreation facilities. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget that projects payroll expenditures and supply/equipment purchases. Assist with the review, selection and annual purchase of the strength training and cardiovascular conditioning equipment for multiple facilities. Supervise and mentor a graduate assistant.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Education Administration, Sport Management, Nutrition, Health Promotion, Recreation Administration or related field. Experience with personal training administration and operation of a fitness facility with a robust offering of strength and cardio equipment. Graduate assistant experience would meet the 1 year experience requirement. CPR/First Aid (or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire), including acquiring instructor certification, supervisory skills, and appropriate technology skills. Knowledge of exercise science principles. Must have a minimum of one nationally accredited personal training or strength and conditioning certification (i.e. NSCA-CSCS, NSCA-CPT, ACE, ACSM, NASM).

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree with two or more years teaching strength training courses and managing a strength training/fitness facility. udget development and administration experience. Teaching experience. Personal training certification. Equipment purchasing experience. Preferred to have two nationally accredited fitness certifications including Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (i.e. NSCA, ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NASM, USAW).
