Student Retention Coach, Health Sciences Full Description

Position Summary
This position provides student-facing services at both the Florissant Valley and Wildwood campuses. The Health Sciences Retention Coach supports student success by addressing barriers that impact persistence and graduation across allied health programs. The Coach provides inclusive, trauma-informed advising; monitors student progress; and collaborates with faculty, staff, employers, and clinical partners to promote equitable student outcomes. The role contributes to program accreditation, supports outreach and recruitment efforts, and fosters student readiness for academic and career success.

Primary Duties Performed
  • Develops and implements equity-driven retention strategies that address academic, social, and financial barriers
  • Monitors student progress and provides proactive interventions through individual and group coaching
  • Guides students in building academic and career-readiness skills, including study strategies, test preparation, time management, and communication
  • Provides trauma-informed and inclusive advising to support student well-being, resilience, and sense of belonging
  • Facilitates referrals to campus and community resources
  • Collaborates with clinical partners and employers to align learning experiences with career pathways
  • Collects, analyzes, and applies student data to guide program improvements and evidence-based interventions
  • Supports program accreditation requirements by serving on advisory boards and contributing to documentation and reporting
  • Participates in recruitment and outreach to prospective students

Qualifications/Experience
Master’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree plus two additional years of relevant experience, plus a minimum of three years of relevant full-time professional experience. Experience working with health care students in an academic setting is preferred.

Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a professional office and classroom/clinical learning environment, with frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and external partners. Requires travel between campuses and to community/clinical partner sites; evening and weekend hours may occasionally be required.

Compensation
$61,425.00 per year.
