Position Summary
The Training Specialist will own and drive the training facilitation of nationally approved courses for the communities that Berkshire owns and/or manages within their assigned division. The Training Specialist is a remote US-based role aligned with Eastern Time Zone (ET). Candidates from any US time zone may apply but must accommodate working standard ET business hours (typically 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM ET), with possible schedule adjustments; reasonable accommodations may be available.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, Fair Housing, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and all other laws pertaining to apartments and team member management
- Consistently demonstrate use of tact and discretion
TRAINING
Conduct monthly Systems Training via video conference including, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Property Management Software: Customer Relationship Management platform(s); Payment platform(s), Resident Screening platform(s), Income & Identity platform(s), Leasing and Deposit Accounting platform(s), Maintenance & Mobile Maintenance Application(s), Work-orders and Make-Ready Unit platform(s) Renter’s Insurance and additional products added
- Collections Interface and Automated Collections. Collections Software/Systems: Internal Manual Collections & Automated Collection platforms, outsourced deposit alternative platforms, and outsourced collection company platforms
- Lead Management Software
- Data Storage System(s) and any cloud-based backup systems
- Purchasing & Procurement platforms, from approval to invoice
- Alternative Security Deposit Programs
- Follow-up training when needed or requested
- Plan, facilitate and communicate all related items for team members attending Facilitator led training. Ensure that all on demand system related classes are completed
- Participate with demos, implementation, rollout, and training of new systems initiatives
- Coordinate the training with 3rd party vendors and follow up with employees to ensure understanding of the programs
- Assist with creation of training materials as requested
BERKSHIRE UNIVERSITY/LMS
- Enter all facilitators led training classes in the LMS at least 60 days in advance of the class
- Periodically review property learning plans for compliance of completion
- Assist with creating on demand courses as requested
FINANCIAL TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist and review Boston accounting bank rec discrepancies as needed
- Train and monitor the collection procedures for current and former residents
- Train eviction procedures in accordance with local laws
- Complete the training sections of the “Inspect What You Expect Checklist” annually for each community
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Participate in Acquisitions or Due Diligence tasks as requested
- Review of the Berkshire Support Logs weekly
- Participate in Property Audits with Compliance Trainer
- Use a TEAM’s channel to communicate with APM’s
ON SITE TEAM MEMBER DEVELOPMENT
- Recruit and interview Assistant Property Managers and Property Managers as requested
- Mentor team members in Development Programs as requested
- Participate in collaborating with Interns as requested by the Vice President of Training
MEETINGS AND CONFERENCE CALLS
- Participate in weekly, monthly and “as needed” Training Department conference calls
- Conduct and record combined monthly call for Assistant Managers, Business Managers, and Managers of Resident Retention
- Participate in Property Managers monthly meetings as requested
- Participate in National Overview Call and Town Hall meetings
- Plan, facilitate and participate in Regional/Divisional meetings and events as requested
- Attend Training meetings, conferences, and additional meetings as requested
- Participate and support local and National Apartment Association and/or IREM activities
- Participate in planning the Annual Leadership Conference as requested by the Vice President of Training
- Participate in monthly MAP (Managers Advisory Panel) calls as schedule allows
ADDITIONAL RESPONSBILITIES
- Perform any additional duties or tasks as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Training

Knowledge/Experience:
- At least three (3) years’ experience in a training/facilitation role or the equivalent in on-the-job experience required
- At least two (2) years’ experience with Property Management Software Yardi & EliseAI, as described under “Training” responsibilities
- At least three (3) years’ experience in the multifamily industry
- Aptitude for organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple priorities, using critical thinking and problem solving
- Demonstrated multi-modal communication style that reaches every stakeholder, specifically excellent verbal, and written communications
- Ability to communicate with and manage up to senior management
- Collaborative working style with inclusive work and thinking behaviors, commitment to excellence in teams and work product, with a strong work ethic
- Demonstrate emotional intelligence in high pressure and sensitive situations
- Tenacity, patience, and perseverance to work with business deals from beginning to end of process

- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and communications of information

- Demonstrated high level of ethics and integrity with a straightforward and honest approach
Technical/Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or the equivalent in on-the-job experience
- Demonstrated advanced Berkshire Property Management Software skills (e.g., Yardi, EliseAI)
- Demonstrated ability to use and learn new technology (e.g., computers/hardware, mobile, software, cloud-based programs)
- Proficiency with computers, keyboards, monitors and telephone
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, Power Point, SharePoint, Stream etc.)
- At least two (2) years’ experience in Berkshire preferred systems software platform (aka Property Management Software)
- Proficiency with current versions of Windows, Edge, Azure
- Proficiency with remote/virtual meeting technology and how to conduct online meetings/training
- Proficiency with SharePoint & Stream for internal social media content
