Job Summary/Basic Function
This position provides one-on-one academic support to WSU math students. Tutors serve as collaborative mentors, helping peers build confidence and succeed academically while demonstrating strong communication, empathy, and professionalism. Tutors receive required training in effective tutoring techniques.
Basic Job Functions
Facilitate one-on-one tutoring consultations.
Participate in mandatory training and tutor certification programs.
Manage your appointment schedule and assist with drop-in tutoring sessions.
Work as a Math Learning Assistant (embedded tutor) as needed.
Required Qualifications
Must be a current WSU student in good academic standing.
Able to attend required training and certification workshops.
Must be able to tutor at the Davis Campus.
Must have earned a B or better in the courses you propose to tutor.
A strong working knowledge of the subject matter you will be tutoring.
Completed Calculus I with a B+ or better, or equivalent course.
Preferred Qualifications
Highly reliable, with strong time and task management skills.
Ability to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear, concise, and friendly manner.
A brief letter of recommendation from faculty or staff familiar with your math skills (under ‘other document 1’)

This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time, the pool will expire, and applicants will be notified.
