Job Summary The UX Peer Advisor supports the Career Exploration & Development by helping students navigate digital career platforms (Handshake, OberLink, Interstride) and providing peer support through drop-in advising and campus engagement. This position combines user experience awareness, outreach, and project support to enhance access to career resources and improve the student experience across various platforms.
Responsibilities |
Provide peer advising and assistance on career platforms: Handshake, OberLink, and Interstride. Staff weekly drop-in advising hours and respond to student inquiries in a timely, inclusive, and respectful manner. Table weekly at rotating campus locations (Wilder Hall, Science Center, Living Learning Communities) to promote career resources and events Assist with data collection and reporting from platforms to support career center programming. Collaborate on projects to create and improve digital resources Attend weekly Peer Career Advisor (PCA) team meetings and ongoing training sessions Track project tasks and progress using tools like Google Sheets, Trello, or any other project management tool. Communicate actively with staff and peers using Slack, email, and project management tools to ensure effective collaboration and teamwork. Join the CED implementation team for the new Engage CRM to track alumni, parents, and employers’ interactions with CED.
Weekly Expectations: Work 10–15 hours per week consistently, as your schedule permits. Participate in weekly team meetings or tabling shifts. Maintain reliable communication with supervisors and team members. Complete assigned tasks and projects on time.
Qualifications Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Comfort interacting with peers in one-on-one, group, and virtual settings. Interest in supporting student success and equity in career development. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications: Major in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Experience with user experience (UX) design, accessibility, or platform usability. Familiarity with Google Suite, Handshake, OberLink, and Interstride. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA) principles.
