Description  | Reporting to the Senior Director of HR Systems and Operations, the Assistant Director will have primary oversight of key HR systems, including time and attendance software, paid time off software (Appogee), and the HR module of the ERP (Ellucian Banner). The role focuses on enhancing operational efficiency through technology solutions. The ideal candidate will leverage emerging technologies, including AI tools, to streamline HR operations and enhance service delivery. A strong commitment to improving the employee experience through user-friendly, data-driven, and responsive HR systems is essential.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage the electronic time and attendance for all non-exempt employees, including union staff and student employees; review and reconcile timecards and provide daily reporting. Collaborate with Information Technology Services, Finance, Payroll, and other campus teams to prioritize HR system initiatives. Lead and support HR technology projects including system implementations, upgrades, and third-party data integrations. Provide project management oversight using platforms such as Microsoft Project to track deliverables, timelines, and milestones. Develop and implement automated workflows to streamline payroll and HR processes. Ensure seamless integration across HRIS, payroll, benefits administration and timekeeping systems and ensure data accuracy. Audit, adjust and maintain Paid Time Off records across multiple employee groups. Design and maintain HR dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like Power BI and Tableau. Develop HR metrics and dashboards to support strategic decision-making by senior leadership. Maintain HR data integrity and confidentiality following best practices in data governance. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in HR systems, operations, or HRIS project management. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Demonstrated understanding of HR processes including full employee lifecycle process mapping. Proficiency with business intelligence/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel and SharePoint. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical mindset and keen attention to detail. Ability to present complex data insights clearly to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications  | Experience in higher education. Prior experience with Ellucian Banner. Effective relationship-building and communication skills across diverse constituencies. Knowledge of HR best practices and regulatory compliance in a university or public sector environment.
