Advertised Job Summary  | Associate Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications, USC Aiken

USC Aiken seeks applications for the position of Associate Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications. The Associate Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for designing strategies and messaging that build awareness of the university’s reputation in conjunction with individual colleges and schools, working to foster alignment with the overall brand and enrollment strategies as the university continues to harness new capabilities and programs in fast-growing professional fields.

Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communication and Chief of Staff, the AVC will provide campus-wide marketing leadership and manage an in-house marketing staff within the central Office of University Marketing and Communication. This position also serves as the principal advisor on all marketing and branding-related matters for internal clients in the absence of the VCMC, sharing expertise and guidance with the entire university community. The AVC will work collaboratively with a diverse array of stakeholders, including senior campus leaders, deans, development colleagues, trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, students, and communications professionals.

Core Duties include: Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies for colleges, schools, and programs in alignment with brand and enrollment strategies to enhance the university’s reputation. Design and execute digital marketing strategies and infrastructure to support university goals. Provide leadership and direction to the in-house marketing staff within the Office of Marketing and Communication. Serve as primary backup for the VCMC in matters of crisis communications, internal communications, media relations, and brand strategy. Serves as a partner to the unit’s creative team, helping secure marketing budgets, goals, and content in support of creative team execution. Serve as the principal advisor on marketing and branding-related matters across the university. Analyze and leverage data to inform marketing strategies and measure effectiveness. Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in marketing and communications. Other duties as assigned.
 
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a job related field and at least 10 years of job related experience, including some prior management experience. Advanced degree is preferred. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
