Job Description Summary
Community for Rigor (C4R) is a new NIH funded initiative aiming at teaching the principles of scientific rigor, such as p-hacking, correlation vs causation, literature reviews, or power calculations to scientists worldwide. They are focused on making science, wherever it happens, more rigorous, trustworthy, and meaningful, serving the broad neuroscience community to get started.
The Curriculum Developer/Project Leader will develop training materials for C4R aimed at scientists, ranging from undergraduates to professors.
The Curriculum Developer/Project Leader will:
- Develop a small number of absolutely over-engineered curricula for tens of thousands of participants, working with some of the leading professors in the field.
- Work with our outreach team to understand gaps in existing training.
- Work with scientists to optimize information consumable in a course format.
- Work tightly with Konrad Kording to optimize the tutorials.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of experience doing science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Awareness of rigor problems in the field.
- Teaching experience.
- Previous hands-on instructional design with instructional technology experience.
- Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
- Excellent English-language communication skills.
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio/visual scripts, etc.
- Comfortable presenting virtually and in person (webinars, customer meetings)
- Technical experience in coding/markdown/python
- Awareness of the teaching theory/education literature
