HR Generalist (Entry Level) Full Description

As the Human Resources Generalist, you provide support for staff and faculty throughout their experience at the college.  You exemplify the college mission and vision to ensure the employee life cycle is engaging and has a positive impact while cultivating professional and personal development. You assist in the daily functions of the Human Resource department including recruiting, screening, onboarding, and ensuring employees are aware of company policies and best practices. You will join a team of champions for ACE’s values, culture, and climate.

Compensation 
ACE is committed to paying a competitive wage while staying true to our mission of maintaining high-quality, affordable programs for our students. The starting hourly rate for this position is $19.00, plus all full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus. Offers vary depending on education, prior experience, and expertise being applied to the role.

Day to Day Responsibilities 
In this role you will wear different hats, but your skills will be especially essential in the following areas:  
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. 
  • Responsible for gathering academic transcripts and CV’s to determine qualifications and eligibility for positions. 
  • Assists the Human Resources team with creating and editing job descriptions.  
  • Assists in issuing anniversary badges and gifts. 
  • Assists in the implementation of new hire onboarding and employee recognition programs. 
  • Supports new hires during onboarding by monitoring their progress and helping as needed. 
  • Creates ACE ID badges for new hires. 
  • Assists in faculty qualification audits. 
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. 
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law by being HR certified and maintaining certifications (certifications not required upon hire but must be willing to get certified when eligibility requirements are met.) 
  • Works collaboratively with all levels of leadership to provide high-quality professional development in partnership with the Training and Development team.  
  • Models appropriate collaborative endeavors, nurturing relationships across departments to promote consistency and stability. 
  • Models and incorporates ethical standards as an aspect of the college culture. 

Qualifications and Education Requirements 
  • Earned degree in a related field, preferably in Human Resources or Business Administration. 
  • Direct work experience in Human Resources and/or business administration. 
  • Human Resource certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully developing professional working relationships in an online/virtual environment.  
  • Proven leadership in establishing a positive climate of engagement in higher education with remote experience preferred. 
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite applications proficiently and Adobe products. 
  • Ability to use or learn how to use appropriate technology, including conferencing and learning management systems.
