Job Description  | Reporting to the head of the Labor Relations Team, the Labor Relations Coordinator CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) Administration supports positive and constructive labor management relationships through consistent interpretation, administration, and application of collective bargaining agreements. This role plays a key part in ensuring that contractual rights and obligations are applied fairly and transparently.

The position works directly with union representatives and supervisors on grievance processing, contract questions, and related labor relations matters, while supporting the Labor Relations Team’s broader efforts in investigations, negotiations, and contract administration.

Education and Experience  | Human Resources and/or labor relations experience, or legal experience in labor and/or employment law. Knowledge of key employment and labor laws (e.g. FLSA, FMLA, NLRA, ADA, NY PFL, EEOC Regs. etc.) Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively across levels. Proactive self-starter; adept at finding creative solutions to challenging issues. Skilled at conflict resolution, informal mediation, and negotiation. Must be detail-oriented, adept at multi-tasking, able to prioritize effectively, and work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment. Ability to work independently but also function as part of a team. Exceptional writing, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to conduct confidential workplace investigations and prepare detailed, well-written investigation reports. Proficiency in using PowerPoint, Microsoft Office Products, and particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel; Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and ability to query standard DataInsights reports. Demonstrated ability to influence others across levels.

Skills and Knowledge  | Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Industrial Labor Relations or related field or associate’s degree with 2+ years’ experience in a unionized environment and with administration/operations of a collective bargaining agreement. 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources, labor and/or employee relations, or related work. Experience in labor and/or employee relations in an academic setting is desirable.

Responsibilities  | Contract Administration & Compliance Support the Labor Relations Team in the administration and implementation of collective bargaining agreements affecting represented employees. Respond to questions from union representatives and supervisors regarding contractual rights, obligations, and application of CBAs and related policies. Monitor compliance with contractual provisions and perform assigned tasks related to contract administration and implementation. Assist with the review, approval, and posting of union-represented job opportunities.  Grievance Processing Investigate, document, and respond to grievances in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements and established procedures. Maintain and update grievance and labor relations tracking logs. Receive and appropriately route complaints, calls, and inquiries from union representatives and supervisors, promoting timely and respectful resolution. Discipline & Investigations Assist with confidential investigations of employee complaints and labor-related concerns. Prepare discipline-related documentation under direction, consistent with contractual and procedural requirements. Negotiations SupportParticipate in and support union negotiations through the preparation of materials, documentation, and coordination.
