Tor Publishing Group, an imprint of Macmillan Publishers, is seeking an experienced and creative Marketing Associate/ Associate Marketing Manager. In this role you will spearhead marketing campaigns for our exciting list of genre fiction titles and help support our social media accounts for primarily the Tor Books and Bramble imprints.
This position reports directly to a Marketing Manager and is a key member of our large Tor Publishing group team. The ideal candidate will have experience in working directly with authors and agents and managing campaigns, as well as working both independently and collaboratively in a book environment.
This hybrid position has occasional in-office responsibilities, including but not limited to in-office meetings, author visits or events, and other ad hoc projects. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 120 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with Marketing Manager on major campaigns across Tor Publishing Group imprints
- Develop and execute marketing campaigns for their own list of titles, with an emphasis on digital and social strategy
- Handle author and agent communication for each of the assigned titles
- Provide administrative support to meet seasonal sales deadlines, update key databases, process invoices and mailings
- Support social media managers for Bramble and Tor Books accounts through content creation, scheduling, posting, and audience engagement
- Manage e-mail marketing strategy for Bramble in collaboration with TPG’s internal marketing team as well as Macmillan’s corporate marketing group
- Execute targeted outreach to booksellers and librarians
- Work collaboratively across many different departments, including marketing, editorial, publicity and more
What you'll bring:
- Understanding of effective book publishing marketing strategies and ability to develop creative approaches to achieving marketing objectives
- Experience in social media content creation and interest in ever-evolving social media trends
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Superb verbal and written communication skills, and confidence in presenting to internal and external stakeholders, including prospective authors and literary agents
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving abilities and curiosity to learn
- Familiarity with Google systems, Canva, social media platforms as well as general computer skills
- Awareness and understanding of current trends in Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Romance genres.
Ideal Experience:
- Associate: 1-2 years of experience working in a marketing or social media role (in publishing, media, or adjacent industries).
- Associate Manager: 3-5 years of experience in title marketing, digital marketing, content strategy, or audience development (internships included)
- College degree or equivalent professional experience.
This role will have an annual salary up to $65,000.
