Job Summary | University of Utah Health is seeking an experienced
Senior Web Content Specialist to join our
Digital Experience team. We’re looking for a strategic thinker and skilled communicator who can shape, optimize, and maintain content across our web platforms to ensure it reflects our brand voice, meets accessibility standards, and performs well in search.This role is ideal for someone who combines creativity and technical expertise. Search Engine Optimization Specialist, III Manage web portfolios and develop content strategies for clinical service lines and institutional priorities. Write, edit, and optimize web content for clarity, engagement, accessibility (ADA), and SEO/GEO performance. Build and maintain site pages using an enterprise-level content management system (e.g., Drupal, WordPress). Conduct content audits and keyword research to inform updates and new content opportunities. Analyze and refine content structure, metadata, and site architecture for improved visibility and user experience. Collaborate with subject matter experts, freelance writers, and clinical stakeholders to ensure accuracy and brand alignment. Educate colleagues and partners on web content standards, editorial processes, and best practices. Represent the web content team at meetings and presentations, sharing insights and recommendations. Develop and execute search engine marketing (SEM) strategies, including paid search and social campaigns. Monitor and report on SEO/SEM performance to inform continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications |
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Search Engine Optimization Specialist, III: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Demonstrated experience in web content creation, editing, and SEO optimization for large-scale websites. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a complex organization. Strong command of grammar, brand voice, and style consistency. Experience working with SEO tools, analytics platforms, and CMS systems (Drupal, WordPress, etc.). Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical partners as well as senior-level stakeholders.
Preferences | Experience working within a large healthcare or academic institution. Strong understanding of plain language, health literacy, and accessibility best practices. Advanced knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing strategies (including GEO/AEO). Familiarity with HTML and web publishing workflows. Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable content insights. Passion for creating content that is both user-centered and aligned with organizational goals.
