Description | Reporting to the Dean of Graduate Admission, the Senior Associate Dean supports academic departments to attract and enroll the most qualified graduate students. This individual will play a pivotal role in building relationships with key stakeholders, supervising team members, and ensuring applications are reviewed efficiently. This position requires a flexible work schedule, including early mornings, late evenings and/or occasional weekends to support extended student services.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manages a portfolio of select graduate programs, serving as the primary admissions contact and overseeing all related recruitment and admissions activities. Supervises a team of four graduate recruiters, including setting priorities, assigning projects, and supporting team development through regular check-ins. Reviews and verifies admission decisions submitted by faculty committees to ensure accuracy and compliance with institutional policies. Interprets and analyzes detailed reports to regularly provide enrollment projections to leadership and inform strategy. Collaborates with faculty and campus partners to understand program needs and support enrollment goals. Designs and implements innovative strategies to attract, engage, and enroll a diverse and highly qualified pool of graduate students. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of university policies, application systems, and industry best practices to inform decision-making and improve operations. Represents the university at events, conferences, and meetings as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree required. Valid driver’s license. Three to five years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, alumni, and external partners. Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Preferred Qualifications | Master’s degree preferred. Three to five years of recruitment experience within higher education; preference given to those with prior experience in graduate admission. Experience supervising full-time administrators. Familiarity with database management and admissions-specific software is a plus.

Salary/Salary Range | $88,650

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
