Posting Context Statement  | This position reports to the Vice President for Constituency Experiences in the University of Idaho Foundation. The University of Idaho Alumni Association (UIAA) is an independent 501©(3) nonprofit led by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) is a department within the University of Idaho Foundation’s Constituency Experiences unit, responsible for implementing alumni programming and managing day-to-day engagement efforts. Although legally distinct, the UIAA and OAR operate as collaborative partners under a formal service agreement with the UI Foundation with a shared mission: to foster lifelong connections between alumni and the University of Idaho.

Position Overview  | This position is responsible for fostering connections between University of Idaho and its alumni community. As a UI Foundation employee, this role oversees all activities and operations of the Alumni Office and fulfills all executive director duties for the University of Idaho Alumni Association, Inc. This position displays management, communication and relationship-building skills, as well as a commitment to advancing the mission and goals of the university and UI Foundation. The incumbent serves as a member of the UI Foundation senior leadership team and maintains strong relationships with university alumni and leaders throughout the state and region.

Duties may include: Develop and implement a comprehensive group of alumni programs that enhance and expand the university’s relationships with its alumni Lead and administer the Office of Alumni Relations and all affiliated organizations Oversee Office of Alumni Relations daily operations, including staffing, budgeting and day-to-day business functions Utilize marketing strategies to survey alumni to determine the most effective programming Maintain and grow revenue-generating programs and affinity groups Administer the University of Idaho Alumni Association and related boards and associations as assigned Identify, recruit and direct alumni volunteer leaders and alumni advocates Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications 
Required Experience  | Eight years in a leadership role in either a non-profit or higher education organization Five years as a manager, including setting budgets and supervising personnel Recruiting, training, motivating and organizing the activities of volunteers Developing, implementing and assessing strategic plans
Required Education  | Bachelor’s Degree
Required Other  | Ability to travel Ability to work nonstandard business hours which may include weekends and holidays Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university vehicles

Additional Preferred  | Experience in a complex higher education environment and/or alumni association or volunteer non-profit organization Familiarity with University of Idaho’s history and traditions, as well as awareness of Idaho higher education issues and challenges Experience developing, recommending and evaluating program procedures and recommending change Professional knowledge of the University of Idaho and the state of Idaho Experience organizing, planning, executing and evaluating special events in settings for varied audiences with various purposes Familiarity with strategic enrollment or career services or closely related field Experience in marketing or strategic communications in non-profit, foundation, or higher education settings
