Reporting to the Learning and Development Supervisor, the Senior Learning and Development Trainer is a lead resource for delivering, designing, and advancing the Firm’s legal technology and professional skills training strategy. This senior-level role partners with Firm leadership, practice groups, and Information Services project teams to deliver innovative training and create solutions to accelerate technology adoption that forwards change across the firm. The Senior Trainer also leads program development, trainer mentorship, and strategically drives the Firm’s learning initiatives. After an initial period of training, this position is eligible for a hybrid-remote work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads the design and delivery of high-profile training initiatives, including Firm-wide technology rollouts, process changes, and skill development programs.
- Advises leadership on firm-wide training standards and adoption priorities.
- Assesses future training needs and propose strategic learning initiatives to address evolving business demands.
- Creates comprehensive training programs, from needs assessment through delivery and evaluation, ensuring alignment with adult learning best practices and legal industry standards.
- Designs advanced, role-specific learning paths in the LMS to support attorneys, practice groups, and staff at varying skill levels.
- Incorporates innovative delivery methods, such as microlearning, virtual labs, and scenario-based learning, to drive engagement and retention.
- Develops communication plans and adoption strategies in collaboration with IS, Marketing, and Organizational Change Management.
- Uses LMS analytics, Service Desk data, and post-training surveys to measure training effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
- Recommends enhancements to content, delivery methods, and technology tools to keep the Firm’s learning approach current and competitive.
- Travels to other Firm offices as needed to ensure equitable training delivery and on-site support across locations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Requires expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, with the ability to develop advanced workflows and teach complex functionality.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of legal-specific applications (iManage, Intapp, Litera, etc.) and their integration into law firm workflows.
Education and Experience Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Computer Science, or related field required; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal or professional services training, with at least 3 years in a senior, lead, or strategic training role required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience participating in or leading training workstreams on technology projects required.
- Technical writing experience with a focus on creating clear, engaging training resources required.
- Proficiency with eLearning development tools (Camtasia, Articulate, SnagIt, etc.) and LMS platforms required.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), Prosci Change Management, or ATD credentials strongly preferred.
