Job SummaryThe primary purpose of the Student Support Specialist I is to implement college-wide retention/early alert initiatives, provide administrative/receptionist support for the Academic Success Center, and provide purchasing/reporting duties for the Academic Success Center.
Job Duties:• Implement college-wide retention initiatives. Serve as the primary campus point of contact for Starfish Early Alert and Starfish Connect retention tools. Manage the college-wide early alert processes. Follow up regularly with students to ensure continued progress toward their degrees. Place special retention emphasis on stop-outs/non-returners, near-completers, undeclared students, enrolled-but-zero-credits-earned, at-risk students, students on academic probation/subject to dismissal/suspension, and students not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) eligibility for financial aid.
• Provides administrative/receptionist support for the Academic Success Center (ASC), which serves students seeking career development, transfer, and Ready to Work assistance. Greet and welcomes visitors to the ASC. Offer high-quality customer service. Maintain ASC resource library. Assists with the maintenance of the ASC computer lab. Support the four-year university partners in the ASC as needed. Plan events as needed (Career and Transfer Fair, National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) induction, etc.).
• Manage the ASC budget effectively and timely. Order supplies, promotional items, process travel, purchase food items for specific events, etc. Maintain procurement card purchases, forms, and reporting.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Success Center.

Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor degree and one year related work experience, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated excellent customer service skills/soft skills.
• Demonstrated attention to detail.
• Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task in an open office environment and respond to issues and concerns that affect the department.
• Discretion in handling high level, confidential materials related to the department.
• Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated excellent database and computer skills.
• Ability to maintain department budget effectively.
