Job Description
This strategically focused role is responsible for creating and realizing the vision and business case for innovative, equity-centered courseware that improves outcomes for Black students, Indigenous students, Hispanic students and students experiencing poverty in general chemistry. Creates product roadmaps and provides direction in the development and delivery of an innovative product and solution. Bridges the technical, education, and business worlds in the design of product and services focused on action and breaking down complex problems into steps that drive product development. Leads user research and product development for courseware (technology platform and curriculum), through ideation, prototyping, testing, and iterating. Responsible for working closely across cross-functional teams that include faculty and other academic experts, learning designers, and technologists at ASU and partner institutions to implement and sustain a great user experience.

Essential Duties
  • Understands and communicates customer needs and product vision, providing rapid feedback to technology and curriculum teams.
  • Steers projects to ensure delivery of business value aligned to direction of leadership.
  • Makes strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
  • Able to strategically lead processes and decisions that produce inclusive, equitable, and culturally-responsive courseware designs
  • Assists as needed with backlog maintenance, communicating to both internal/external teams, improving transparency and radiating information.
  • Supports user experience projects by communicating and collaborating with team members.
  • Participates in iterative software development processes and brainstorming sessions.
  • Prioritizes customer requests based on technology product vision, strategy, end-user value and schedules appropriately as a project or task consistent with established standards and/or guidelines.
  • Represents products to customers and executive leadership.
  • Works with engineers to build and launch new features.
  • Creates, maintains, prioritizes and sequences backlog of technology products based on business value and integration/support of stated objectives, strategies, and goals.
  • Works with stakeholders and is on hand during the course of the product's projects to answer questions, make difficult decisions and assure the project is on track.
  • Develops and maintains standards for testing and progress visibility, reports on milestones; advocates/negotiates additional resources as appropriate to ensure achievement of objectives consistent with requestor's expectations/needs.
  • Participates proactively in project planning, meetings, reviews, retrospectives and demonstrations.
  • Oversees/maintains documentation of the applications and is the definitive knowledge source for the history and future of a technology product.
  • Assists with prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs. Takes the lead in smaller projects or changes.
  • Works with partners on onboarding strategies.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
     
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Marketing or related field AND 8 years product/program management, project management, management consulting OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. 

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in leading Web and App design and development processes of educational technology products including knowledge of scaling technology, information architecture, online content and curriculum deployment, user interface design, user research and usability testing.
  • Experience with application of education technology to STEM education, particularly chemistry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the methods and techniques of project management and business analysis including developing business cases and writing logical, detailed and complete requirements/functional specifications.
  • Experience with in-depth analysis in interpreting web analytics data, formulating conclusions and developing analysis-based strategies.
  • Experience with coordinating or participating in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)-related initiatives in postsecondary contexts.
  • Experience in developing and managing strategic partnerships and creating and delivering presentations to key stakeholders
  • Experience in collaborating well with others performing work in a team environment and working to reach consensus in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally based on the needs of the project

Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%).Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
